American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) is the most prestigious organization that focuses on the art and science of comprehensive cosmetic dentistry. The accreditation process is extremely detailed and rigorous to ensure that this honor is only awarded to the most deserving. Cosmetic dentistry is the discipline that involves procedures such as veneers, bonding, porcelain crowns, and aesthetic gum shaping. Most details are measured down to less than 1/10 of a millimeter to ensure a perfect smile.

Comprehensive Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is a wonderful field of dentistry that makes everyone smile when treatment is finished. The doctor is happy with the results of their artistry by creating the perfect smile. The patient is ecstatic with a life-transforming smile. It's positive effect of a patient's self-esteem is limitless. However, the long-term success of treatment is dependent on the function of the TMJ, orofacial muscles, and jaw relationship to each other. A successful case should not be based solely on appearance at the final appointment, but years later.

Closing gaps between teeth

Gaps between teeth can easily be solved with cosmetic dentistry. There are many options to choose from which include porcelain veneers, no-prep Lumineers, minimal-prep Lumineers, and cosmetic bonding to name a few. Anesthesia is normally not even required for these procedures, which makes it painless and more comfortable that you could imagine.  A free consult is always available to discuss your options.

Almost every celebration of life involves food. As we age, it becomes one of the few joys that we can cherish. Although health issues may limit or curb our diets, the ability to chew should not be a concern when our muscles start to lose strength, or our brain doesn't respond as quick as we would like. Losing the ability to chew also affects what we can eat and how much we can eat. Dentistry has transformed to a point where we can provide teeth for everyone, even to the extent of replacing your original set of teeth without losing any strength or function. We are always happy to consult and discuss your options for cosmetic dentistry, TMJ disorders, or full mouth rehabilitation/restoration.

Here is an excellent video about why early treatment is so vital. Facial development and airway are crucial factors for orthodontics to be successful. Once facial features are developed, there will be adequate jaw space to straighten teeth without extractions and minimal chance of relapse later in life.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a vital tool for predicting your risk for a myocardial infarction (heart attack). It is now the leading predictor (20%), over smoking (11%) and high blood pressure (11%). The unfortunate fact is that OSA is mostly undiagnosed in the population, or not treated correctly. Continuous positive airway pressure machines, or CPAP, are commonly prescribed to increase a patient's airflow where they may have had trouble breathing on their own during sleep. However, the major disadvantage is that the airway was blocked or narrow to begin with, so now air is forced into this constriction with reduced efficiency. The solution should be to treat the source of OSA and not only the symptoms. We are trained to diagnose and treat these conditions non-surgically safely, and always welcome new or existing patients who wish to discuss their condition and to see if we could help.

Grinding/Clenching and Sleep Apnea

Did you know that grinding and clenching has been linked to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)? Approximately 1 in 15 Americans have OSA but not everyone has been diagnosed. The significance of that number is there are at least 1 in 15 Americans with an undiagnosed condition (OSA) that will lead to high blood pressure, depression, diabetes, weight gain, or cancer. Grinding and clenching are early and continuing signs of OSA since the body struggles for air when asleep. When the body struggles and gasps for air, it triggers the jaw to reopen the airway, and grinding/clenching occurs during this process.
